Bricolage!

I really like that word!

It's French and means "creation from a diverse range of available things".

And I really like this quilt....

Yes, the Modern Sampler is finished!

Well, at least the top is!

It was indeed a creation from a diverse range of available

FABRICS and TECHNIQUES!

Some foundation piecing...

The block in the centre was foundation pieced.

blocks set on point....

The top right hand block is now "on point".

fussy cutting....

and HSTs.....

and as it has my favourite Michael Miller Eiffel Tower fabric in at least 3 of the

blocks...

I think that's what I'll call it!

BRICOLAGE!

And a quick question- do you think it needs a border?

(It currently measures 50 inches square.)

Swirling, Twirling Whirlygig!

Thanks for all all the wonderful comments about my Twist and Shout Quilt!

The top is now complete!

There were strips like this left over from around the edge...

So I trimmed them up....

And added them to some other scraps...

This will be used in the backing.

And this is the front...

It's not a large quilt,

about 28 by 36 inches....

But pretty all the same!

This was fun to make.....

And fun to share!

Will I call it "Twist and Shout".....

or "Twirling Whirlygig"?

Opinions please!

Sisters are Special!

Are you lucky enough to have a sister?

My darling Mum made these dresses!
I am!

This is a quilt I recently finished for my sister's upcoming birthday....

I took the opportunity of some lovely Melbourne Spring weather

to take some

rare outside photos!

This has been a rather long time in the making.....

So I am not sure, but I think I designed this one myself.

Although there is not much originality in it!

I had it professionally machine quilted by Desley

@ Addicted to Quilts

As usual she did a fabulous job!

And that's where the spotted binding went!

Can you tell I love this quilt?

And I love that Helen loves it too!

Happy days!

Twist and Shout!

After some recent finishes, I had promised myself a new project....

And I'd wanted to use this for some time!

Especially as Lee from Freshly Pieced sent it to me in DQS10!

So I supplemented my recent purchases with this 10 inch scrap....

(This is a wonderful soft fabric- anyone know what line its from?)

And this one.......

To make this......

But it didn't stop there....

I cut....

and twisted.....

and got this.....

It has 'shrunk' considerably during the process so there is still more to be done!

Yes, it is a WORK IN PROGRESS, so I am linking up with for Lee's

I can't seem....

...to focus on one thing at a time, at the moment!

This is my Spring Blossom Mini Quilt bound...

although I'm thinking of adding some more quilting!

And some more geese added to my Modern Sampler....

You'd think I'd make the effort to get that finished as I only have one more

block to 'size up'!

And this is the red spotted binding being added to my 'mystery' quilt....

But that will have to wait for another day!

Bound to be....

...finished soon!

Can you guess what I'm working on now?

Two quilts, in fact!

Results shortly, I hope!

I can't think of a clever TITLE!

So just enjoy what I have for you today.....

Some flying geese added to two of my Modern Sampler blocks....

Decided to set this one 'on point'....

And the geese are flying in a different direction here....

And a pretty little bag for my herbal teabags, which will sit on my desk at work...

Made with fabric from Provence, some ric rac and machine embroidered....

Much nicer than a plastic zip lock bag, don't you think?

Thanks Mary for the tutorial and the inspiration!

Olive and Wine Quilt!

Another project which has moved from the 'to-do' to the 'finished' list!

Hooray!

I have always had a soft spot for this quilt and it is lovely to have it quilted...

I designed this one myself, primarily to best use the pansy fabric which had a

fine stripe running through it, making it (sort of) directional...

And I have always loved the look of a simple nine patch!

Set on point, this time...

This quilt is the biggest I ever attempted to quilt myself!

What was I thinking?

(It won't be winning any quilting awards!)

But I have now given myself permission to start something new!

What will I make?

Happy sewing!

Sunday Stash!

As if I needed MORE fabric!

But I was thrilled when I opened the mail this week.....

A scrap pack recently purchased from Hawthorne Threads!

A bargain in anyone's language...

Some Amy Butler here, I believe!

Plans are being made....

Happy Sewing!
